Administrative Judge

Judge Kuntz was elected Montgomery County Juvenile Court Judge in 1994. Currently serving his second term, he became the Administrative Judge in January 2005. Judge Kuntz began his career thirty years ago in the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office. That position subsequently led him to the Juvenile Court where he has held the positions of Referee, Legal Director and Court Administrator.

Judge Kuntz received his B.A. from the University of Dayton in 1965 and his J.D. from the University of Toledo College of Law in 1973.

In the interest of protecting children and the community, Judge Kuntz has served on numerous civic, religious and criminal justice committees, including Big Brothers/Big Sisters, C.A.S.A., Family and Children First Council and the Criminal Justice Council. He serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Dayton.

Judge Kuntz implemented the Juvenile Court Start Right program which identifies and holds parents of kindergarten through fourth grade children accountable for getting their children to school. His message to parents is that getting them to school is like feeding them, and we must feed them everyday.

Judge Kuntz believes that it is his responsibility to protect the community and that treatment begins with appropriate consequences. He remains focused on building better futures for children and families by connecting families with the proper resources and overcoming barriers to success.
