Reclaim a Future. Become a Natural Helper
Natural Helpers - Who are they?
Since 2001, dozens of volunteers from our community—men and women, business execs and retirees, faith leaders and educators—have been specially trained and carefully matched with court-involved youth. These Natural Helpers are mentors and motivators, they have information and insight, they listen, they share, they encourage. Most importantly, Natural Helpers have the heart and the hope necessary to help youth overcome challenges and build on their strengths.
“When I saw the volunteer opportunity in the newspaper it
weighed heavily on my heart, so I called and here I am.”
“I chose to become involved because of the belief that all children have the
intent to excel, some need help in getting back to that direction.”
How does it work?
It’s easy to get involved! Simply fill out an application, agree to a background check, a reference check and an interview. Upon acceptance, Natural Helpers must complete eight hours of required training before being matched with a youth in need. Natural Helpers encourage youth and their families through drug treatment, help connect them to community resources and organizations. They also participate in positive activities and build on a young person’s strengths to help them overcome the challenges they may face in their family, in school, in their neighborhood and with peers.
