Magistrate Smalls

Hope Smalls was appointed and sworn in as Magistrate on November 25, 2019. She received her Juris Doctorate and Master of Laws in Democratic Governance and Rule of Law from Ohio Northern University Claude W. Petit College of Law, where she received the National Association of Women’s Lawyers Outstanding Law Student Award and Outstanding Concurrent JD/LLM Student award and served as Student Bar Association President. Ms. Smalls received her undergraduate degree in Human Rights Studies and History from the University of Dayton where she was the recipient of the W.S. McIntosh scholarship.

Before joining the Montgomery County Juvenile Court, Ms. Smalls worked as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Montgomery County and the City of Dayton. Ms. Smalls is active in our local community as well. She is a Big Sister with Big Brothers and Big Sisters and serves at her local church.
